Morgan Horses?
Anyone know of a breeder of large boned, baroque built morgan horses suitable for dressage.western pleasure and dressage that are around 15 hh and 1000 lbs +. with quiet temperments in the Northeastern US region?
What you are looking for is commonly defined in the Morgan industy as “sport horse” type. Alot of the popular morgan farms currently are breeding hot blooded, tall, long legged and high necked morgans, so you need to focus your search on the other kind if you want something that would work well in dressage or “open” western pleasure. (Morgan western horses look and move and have a different head carrage than the open shows typically want) There are alot of morgan farms that breed Morgans specifically for dressage and jumping. Try searching for Morgan Sport Horse Breeders.
UVM does have alot of different types of Morgans. East of Equinox in vermont also breeds some of that type. Townshend Farm could also possibly carry some of the type you are looking for. Hope that helps!
